Following injuries to key midfielders in the 2004–05 season, he established himself as Arsenal's starting central midfielder and playmaker. He went on to break several of the club's records, earning a reputation as one of the best young players for his position of his generation.

Fabregas with Arsenal will end in 2014 before 2010/2011 starting, there was once again intense media rumour about his future, and in June 2010, a €35M bid from Barcelona was rejected.

In Spain Team

In UEFA Euro 2008, Fàbregas was issued with squad number 10.  He mostly was substitute but he scored his first international goal in that competition in Spain's 4–1 win over Russia.
In the semi-finals, Spain defeated Russia 3–0 with Fàbregas providing two assists. The midfielder made the starting eleven in the final against Germany where Spain prevailed 1–0; this was Spain's first major title since 1964.

Fàbregas was selected as a part of del Bosque's 23-man squad list for the FIFA World Cup 2010.  With del Bosque preferring a famous midfield of Sergio Busquets, Xabi Alonso, Xavi and Andrés Iniesta, Fàbregas didn't involve in any of Spain's games in the competition. He featured as a substitute in four of their seven matches. In the final itself, Fàbregas set up the extra-time winner for Iniesta to win Spain the World Cup for the first time in their history.
